Bloedel Donovan Park is such a great place. It is located on Lake Whatcom off of Electric Ave and has plenty for the whole family to do. We explored the park early on a weekday and it was quite empty except for people and their dogs. Their wasn't a single person in the playground or at the boat launch but I am sure as the day goes by it fills up quickly. 
The park has a huge playground that seems to have something to do for the whole family. My boys thought the variations in slides and the mountain wall were pretty cool. The rest of the park also has a lot of picnic tables, water to swim, a volleyball court and a boat launch. There is a huge building you can rent and a smaller building you can rent through the parks and recreation which is great for birthday parties.
Bloedel Donovan park is another great treasure to Whatcom County. Many kids have spent their summer playing on its giant lawns. It is a special place that everyone should visit and a wonderful way to get on the water.
